Bhubaneswar: After 36-days of agitation, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today paid heed to demands of Anganwadi workers in the state and increased the salary of the agitating workers like a Diwali gift.

According to Patnaik’s declaration, the Anganwadi workers will now get Rs 6000 per month while Mini Anganwadi workers will draw Rs 4125 and the helpers will get Rs 3000.

“I am pleased to announce that the state government has decided to enhance the honorarium of  Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers and Anganwadi helpers to Rs 6000, Rs 4125, and Rs 3000 respectively,” said Naveen.

Notably, bringing a twist to the agitation of Anganwadi workers, one group of the women activists called off their stir while another group continuing the dharna at the Lower PMG here.

According to reports, the group linked with the ruling BJD’s trade union Biju Shramik Samukhya ended its strike after a meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik headed by BJD leader Subash Singh.

However, the other group continued to stage the protest at the Lower PMG.

It may be mentioned here that the Anganwadi workers have been sitting on a dharna at the Lower PMG for the last 36 days pressing for fulfilment their various demands, including salary hike.
