Bollywood heartthrob Priyanka Chopra will soon be seen in guest appearance in Mumbai-based Odia filmmaker and cinematographer Chandrasekhar Rath’s feature film ‘Khwahish’. The film made in Hindi and English is scheduled to release next year. It depicts the inspirational story of a girl fighting cancer and her journey from overcoming the disease to becoming an athlete. The film supported by WHO CPAA and Government of India will be shot mostly in Odisha while Priyanka will be seen in a special appearance, said Rath who has done more than 250 commercial films, corporate films and documentaries in last two decades.
Trained from BPFTIO in 1997, Rath has worked in scripting, shooting, editing and graphics and established Rajalaxmi Film Productions. His three-minute documentary film ‘No Tobacco’ was awarded at Nashik International Film Festival, Kochi International Film Festival and received the Award of Excellency by Mumbai Police. “I was a chain smoker, but with my strong will power I could quit smoking and decided to spread the horrific consequences of smoking through my films,” says the filmmaker.
Rath was awarded Best Cinematographer for ‘Blue Mountains’ at Nashik International Film Festival 2016, which features Ranveer Shorey, Gracy Singh and Rajpal Yadav. Rath has also worked for Odia film ‘To Pain’ in 2005 and is keen on doing more films in Odisha.
