Bhubaneswar: Sprint queen Dutee Chand today cruised into the semifinal round in the 100 m women category at the Asian Athletics Championships held here.
Dutee clocked 11.40 seconds in the qualifying round to cover the distance where she stood first.
“I will win gold in 100 meter to make Odisha and India proud,” a panting Dutee expressed soon after the event.
On the other hand, India opened the account on the opening day of the event with a bronze medal followed by a gold. Defending champion Vikash Gowda won bronze in discus throw category. Gowda had earlier won gold twice in the category at the Asian Athletics Championships.
Manpreet Kaur won gold in women’s shot put taking the medal tally to two for India.
