Cuttack: After hanging in balance for long, Badambadi bus terminus is all set to get a massive makeover as the government has targeted to complete the repair and renovation works by January 2018.
Transport minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu on Thursday informed that already Rs 1.06 crores have been deposited with Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation (OPHWC) and the work is expected to start in the second week of September.
Official sources said a total of Rs 3 crore will be spent under the ambitious makeover plan which includes addressing basic problems that have been plaguing the Badambadi, the busiest bus terminus of the State.
The bus terminus will get an attractive waiting lounge, spic and span urinals, safe drinking water facility and a proper bus bay. A hygienic and eye-catching restaurant will also be opened to ensure good food for passengers. Dormitories will also be built where passengers can rest.
Though Private Bus Owners Association has welcomed such decision of the State government, residents have expressed apprehensions about timely completion of the project as similar plans have remained in pen and paper so far.
