A less rhetoric Naveen joined Twitter in September, 2015. Since then he emphasized on use of social media by his office, government departments, public utilities and district authorities for effective handling of grievance redressal. The chief minister personally monitors his Twitter handle with the help of a team of tech-savvy officials. In August, Naveen’s fan following on Twitter crossed 5 lakh, official sources said. The Odisha chief minister is, however, way behind on Twitter fan following as compared to his counterparts in other states. While Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has more than 12.4 million followers on Twitter, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has 1.58 million followers. Similarly, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has 1.94 million followers and Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh has 1.26 million followers.
